Upgrade subs same headunit

Post by Larox37 » Fri Oct 11, 2019 4:26 pm

So, I actually really like the headunit my car came with (navigation mostly). I do have the subs in the rear deck but I was wondering if theres a way to get anything more out of them or add my own sub/amp in the truck area but keep my headunit? I've always installed subs and an amp with an aftermarket headunit. Any insight would be great, thanks in advance

If you had an amplifier that could accept the pre-amped inputs from the head unit, then amplify them some more and output to the subs, and if that output was within the capabilities of the subwoofers... then sure. You're really just driving the subs harder with more power.

That's about all you're going to do in order to "get more out of them".

Likewise, you could swap the factory sub/subs out for full range speakers, and then use an amp to drive a dedicated, aftermarket sub provided that amp could accept already amplified inputs instead of line level.
