A/C "Clicking" Sound in Center Console

Post by dbltapster » Fri Aug 02, 2019 7:46 pm

Hello. I am new to this forum, and recently purchased a new-to-me 2010 Taurus SEL AWD in very good condition. We noticed a fairly loud clicking noise coming from inside the center console unit when the AC switches to the dash vents. For example, If I go from any setting (defrost, floor vents, Max AC) to the dash vents, a fairly loud and rapid clicking sound emits from the console. After approx 8-10 clicks, it stops. Sounds like a small motor trying to open or close a stuck baffle and the plastic gears are popping (?) Any ideas? Easy fix or major access issue? Thanks!

It’s a bad blend door actuator.
