so, how does it sound? did you install an additional amp? how well does the carplay work?
curious - from your photograph, is that a gap between the bottom of the unit and the top of the cig lighter tray?
and are you missing a compartment where the gearshift used to go?

Re: Has anyone bought this tesla style screen?
For the gearshift I ordered the special police blanking panel then put a stick gel mat over it to hold stuff, their isn't a gap between the lighter and the radio, its just the lip that holds the tray open or closed that makes it look that way.
The unit comes with its own amp, it sounds pretty good and I don't plan on any major changes. Carplay works good but theirs apparently a better Carplay terminal app that supports Wi-Fi that's compatible with this unit on the play store. This unit is apparently a rockchip PX5, and theirs a big thread over at XDA for custom roms and tweaks, which is pretty cool. One issue I've been having is trying to get the google voice assist to work properly with Carplay, this is an issue with my phone though cause google broke the most recent version and using an older version, it doesn't seem compatible with the unit.
Oh yeah, if you plan on installing one of these your self, tape the antenna connector to the adapter, cause the Taurus antenna connector is flimsy as hell and comes off easily. I had to rip it all apart to fix it a few days ago just to reconnect it. This causes the unit to not work properly when it comes loose cause the radio antenna is also the ground.
A good thing to do with these if you have tethering is to use an App called Tasker to turn on Wifi tethering for your phone on when it detects a Bluetooth pairing with the unit, it can turn tethering off and standard wifi back on when you leave the car, automates the process.
I haven't been able to get the sync panel with the console to work with the radio, even though I have an adapter with the radio. So the next thing is probably ordering a bezel piece and modifying it with my own connectors to go above the glove compartment.

Yea, that's insane for a piece of plastic. I have a piece of sheet metal cut to fit and painted to match, it's just recessed half an inch and I'm tired of looking at it. Did this one come black or gray?

They all come in black as far as I've seen, and its actually a solid piece of metal so you can repaint it easily.

i got lucky with my console - mine came with a tray + lid.transportsaxon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 10:24 amhttps://parts.autonationfordwhitebearla ... Ni1nYXM%3D

for the hole where the gear shift is I am designing a compartment with lid that can be secured with magnetic latches for a hidden compartment and where you can attach a wireless charger for your phone. it'll be a printed part.
so, until I put in my carnaviplayer - i have gap between the cig/power tray, so I mocked up a filler that will be 3d printed as well. if anyone wants one after i have it designed - i'll sell them here and donate a portion back to the board.

Re: Has anyone bought this tesla style screen?
I have an extra civilian console available for sale. I think the only difference is the cup holder trim panels (more storage areas for civilian) and the panels that go over ignition and trunk release button (civilian one is cushioned, the police console is hard plastic).
