reliable? eh, mostly. The one giant issue is the internal water pump - if it goes out your entire engine is toast.

What are your worries with the drivetrain? Since you've got AWD I wouldn't worry at all, it's rock solid in my experience and great in all weather.

Yes and no. You can proactively replace it but that will only buy you more time. The thing is that if the water pump fails, it leaks internally which may grenade the engine, meaning you need to replace the whole engine because the water pump failed. A horrible design from Ford.

Another thing to stay on top of is to change the PTU fluid at appropriate intervals. If the fluid overheats it can also grenade the PTU (power transfer unit for AWD). That's not nearly as concerning as the water pump issue though.

The thing about the PTU fluid is that if it overheats, it needs to be changed immediately. Even if you changed the fluid 1,000 miles ago, if it overheats it must be changed again. Drive it nicely and it should last a really long time. You may not know when you overheated it either but I'm pretty sure the PI sedan gives you a warning message. Do not ignore that message.

find out whether the 13 model will accept seats from later model year intercepters (15, 16, 17). If so i may come across some seats as im also looking for rear seats for a "project car" that i'll be picking up soon. around what area are you in?

now, what you can do in the meantime is call some junkyards/salvage yards and ask them over the phone if they have any taurus seats. most likely someone already swiped the seats, but you never know. im trying to find some center consoles and that's what im doing. calling saves you having to drive to each salvage yard, time consuming and expensive.

Just go on eBay. I found my console there along with my seats.

Is that water pump flaw on the 3.7L awd models?

Does anyone know what the scheduled service intervals are?

i found cloth seats in a 14 civilian, not sure what trim it is, but it does have sunroof.
im taking whats left of the console.

the front windshield IS broken, and it rained a few days ago when i first saw the taurus at the salvage yard. so the seats DID get wet, but i saw them today and they appeared usable. you'll need to clean them if you do want the seat. seat is still intact in the vehicle, in the CLARK NJ area. PM me.
