2007 Taurus A/C fan blows cold at idle/warm when driving

Post by 2007TaurusSE » Tue Jun 19, 2018 9:49 am

Hello!

This is about a 2007 Ford Taurus SE. Car has a new blend door actuator and temperature control switch, blend door works, A/C and coolant are charged/filled correctly

The problem is that the A/C is blowing cold when idling, but warm air comes out when driving. Never seen something like this happening. :o Once at a stop, A/C blows cold again. The same happens if the A/C is off, outside air comes in during stops, warm air when moving.

Any ideas? I want to narrow it down before I have work done on it, so I can decide what to try first.

I heard several people stating that it could be an air pocket in the coolant system (not bled correctly). Someone else said it could be the air expansion valve.

My dealer charges $99 to locate the problem, and nothing if I get it fixed afterwards. However, if it is just as simple as bleeding the coolant, I might even do it myself.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Found the issue myself, fixed, works like a charm.

Cost: $0. Time it took: less than 10 minutes. Tool needed: 8 mm socket/wrench.

Good luck to all.

Could you give a rough description of what you did to fix it?
