2003 Sable Crankshaft position sensor - CPS

Postby gendat » Mon Apr 17, 2017 1:07 pm

Hi, On my 2003 Mercury Sable L, DOHC V6, Can I just unbolt the old sensor and bolt the new one on? Does it need to be programmed or calibrated or any such thing? Most videos I see for Ford/Mercury show folks just bolting it on. Thank you!

Some sensors need to be calibrated or adjusted but not that one. Just replace it.

But replacing the sensor might not fix the problem. The problem could lie within the connector, wiring, PCM, etc. What's the exact trouble code you got? Hint: Look it up @ https://www.obd-codes.com/
