Back of car riding on wheels??

Post by Sarajanee » Sun Feb 12, 2017 9:15 pm

Can someone please tell me what can cause the back part of my car to "drop" and make it look like it's riding right on top of the wheels. I noticed it when I was driving home from my mother's that it was a much bumpier ride and almost seemed like ice or snow had built up on some part of the back right side cause it was like every so often that side would lift up then drop back down and bounce. I don't know much about cars but I've been trying to teach myself. I've looked online but can't find anything that really describes what's happening to my car. Thank you in advance for any info

I did, both wheels have barely any space between the top of the wheel and the car but one side is much worse, which is also the side that seemed like it was driving over something

I just bought the car so I don't know what kind of struts it has. But it's a 2005 Ford Taurus SE with a rebuilt title

If it's a 2005 model year, then it was built before 12/05. But it's definitely not AWD.

Sounds like it needs all new struts to me. I'd replace the springs and the shocks inside them as well. Auto parts stores sell them built ready to install. In Ok where I live they are $150 a piece. You'll just have to ask your local store.

hey, my bad , just realized yours is a 4th generation, not 5th generation. get some quick struts, bolt em and go.

Need new struts and springs assemblies. Buy the complete set (front and back) and get them installed. Problem solved.

It turned out to be a broken spring on the passenger side, got a new spring assembly and had it put on by my mechanic. I don't know where you guys love that parts are that cheap but it cost me almost 400$
