High mileage 500
High mileage 500
I've been reading this site for several months. It seems no one has yet broken 60K. Lets have our highest mileage folks post there experience so we might know how the car performs. I'm not talking about items covered under warrenty I'm talking about wear parts. Brakes, battery, hoses and that sort of thing. Only those over 50,000 miles should report at this time. Also tell about how much is city vs highway. Something like 60/40 or what ever the split. Come on we are all ears:

58,ooo miles here.
Sum total of all repairs not covered under warranty: about a dollar. (Replaced a license plate light bulb!)
Warranty repairs: instrument panel lid.
Also a re-aligned deck lid (dealer performed as a courtesy at no charge to me or to Ford)
Discretionary TSB applied at customer expense: CVT reflash, $68 or so.
Turned on the DRL module, again $68 or so.
Four Continental Tires on order, still not delivered...long story, but will be here soon.
Total amount of brake, hose, battery, etc., work: NONE.
Replaced the air filter several times, LOF every 5000 miles. I do a LOT of big metro city area driving, and a lot of freeway driving. Probably about 20/80 city/highway. Get about 20-22 mpg in town, about 28-32 on the road...with both very temperature and terrain dependent.
All this with an AWD SEL.
Oh, yeah, I've washed it. Three times, I think.
And when the new 3.5L comes out, I'm there. I'll miss the CVT. Even though I am looking at a $435 or so fluid change and two filters for it in a few weeks!
My heaviest driving season is coming up. The car has recently been to Atlanta, will be going back next month, to South Carolina later this month, and to New Jersey and Cincinnati, at least, next month. Oh yeah, and back to Jersey again in June...and probably in May, too.
