This Ecoboost sold in 1 day, but this price must upset the curve.

I've been searching for months. Never seen anything like this before.
A black Ecoboost, no damage, clean title for under 6k.

This has me re-thinking all the retail models I see hovering between 11k-14k.

The vin is clear in the page. I had called also, definitely an Ecoboost.

Don't let an outlier influence you too much - public assets are a funny thing.

In our area, muni's are required to post bid notices in public newspapers (which nobody reads). After that, there are no pictures or vehicle descriptions available except, in some cases, by fax if someone takes the time to call the public works division and talk to someone who knows about the auction. After that, a formal bid is required and it's opened for a public reading at a pre-described place and time.

It's no different than picking up a $200k loader for $90k under these circumstances; if only a handful of people know about the asset auction, the price won't reflect the market. Someone just was in the know and got a hellofa deal.

......most states have a 'public notice' aggregating site. just enter the counties youre interested in searching (or whole state) and keyword 'bid'.

you might get lucky on a small town retired service unit!!! another supplement to normal searching, anyway!

I'm the owner of this one now.

They priced it low because they always take on their local PD's police cars, and the guy who put it into the system did so as a non-turbo at first (didn't check the VIN properly).

So I went up, made an offer and after the deal was done told them thanks for the incredibly cheap SHO. The sales manager was none too happy but congratulated me on the car. How could they not know this was a turbo??

It needed some work but I'll be posting updates today (going to pick it up in a few hours). There's also a potential issue with one of the turbos leaking oil, but I've been told it's minor and a new turbo can be pulled off a junk car and installed relatively cheap.
