2013 PI Headliner issue

Post by cooldude.country » Fri Feb 24, 2017 12:58 pm

I am on my way into modifying my 2013 PI but I have a problem with the rear most portion of the headliner just beneath the window stoplight. It is sagging. I found a TSB online for this problem but Ford Dealers as are most dealers, charge huge money to perform this kind of work. The TSB number is TSB 14-0023......FORD:
2011-2014 Taurus
ISSUE
Some 2011-2014 Taurus vehicles may exhibit a loose or dropping down of the headliner at the rear window glass, mainly
around the High Mounted Stop Lamp area. This may be caused by the headliner mounting brackets separating from the
headliner.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct this condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the headliner from the vehicle. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05.
2. Place the headliner on a work table and carefully remove any of the original adhesive from the mounting brackets and
headliner surface.
3. Apply Motorcraft® Plastic Bonding Adhesive, to the back of the mounting brackets.
4. Using mild pressure seat the mounting brackets in their original locations and allow the adhesive to cure for 45
minutes.
5. Install the headliner. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.
PART NUMBER PART NAME
TA-9
A new headliner runs between $1350.00 and$1800.00 or more plus install cost. Does anyone have any information on this? As always thanks for your help.

DIY it or find a cheaper independent mechanic to do it, you have the instructions. New headliners are always prohibitively expensive.
2000 Ford Taurus SEL (excellent car, sold to a friend)
1992 Mercury Sable GS (good car except for the tranny, sold)
Current: 03 F150 King Ranch SuperCrew
Other Fords owned: 02 F150 SuperCrew 4x4, 11 F150 EcoBoost, 07 Ranger, 01 F150 XLT, 98 F150 XLT, 96 Thunderbird LX, 95 Escort GT, 86 Mustang LX, 82 Mustang

Thanks for the reply Webmaster. I was looking for some advice from the experts on here. I have learned a lot just reading many of the posted remarks. Everyone has a lot of much needed information. I hope to soon get up the nerve and post some problems with the modifications I want to perform. Thanks.
