1995 ford SHO 3.2 when the car is driving along it just shuts off with no warning at all. After an hour or so it will start right up . When it shuts off you can turn it over but it will not fire. could it be the ignition module ?

Sounds like a DIS module. I believe it is mounted to the intake manifold opposite the throttle body (far end) on a 3.2

I'm a V8 guy, so I'm not 100% sure. Your 1997 in the thread name threw me off.

Have you checked the Fuel Pump Relay, to make sure its not sticking at some point? Next time it quits, locate the relay (under the hood, in fuse relay box) & give it a few taps, or swap/change it out with one of the other ones next too it as they are the same, eec, horn, f.pump relays are all the same. it will at least rul out the relay sticking.....You may also check the intertia switch in the trunk area (thats where its at on my 98 SHO) Thats the easy stuff, next could be the actual fuel pump overheating & stopping temp. till cools down then it can start right back up without any other symptoms. If you have a fuel pump pressure gauge screw it on there & see what pressure you have. should be in the area of approx 32-35psi (I think, or at least close to it) It should hold presure for at least 5 minutes, if not then I'd say you may need a new f. Pressure Regulator.......hope this helps. I'm chasing my own Fuel Pressure Gremlins myself on my 2000 SES 24v DOHC.

USUALLY A CRANK SENSOR WILL SPIT OUT A CODE PICKED UP VIA A GOOD SCAN TOOL. USUALLY ONE OF THESE CODES FOR CRANK SENSOR: P0385 THRU P0396 & OCCASIONALLY CODES P1309 & P1336. ALSO, STILL DONT RULE OUT THE INERTIA SWITCH, I HAVE SEEN THEM STICK & GO BAD AS WELL. BEST WAY TO TEST IS GIVE IT A SLIGHT TAP WITH A RUBBER MALLET & MAKE SURE IT "KICKS" OFF & STOPS THE FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT. THEN JUST HIT THE RED BUTTON TO TURN IT BACK ON. YOU'LL NOTICE A DIFINATE "CLICK" WHEN ITS TURNED BACK ON (THE INSIDE OF THEM JUST USE A METAL BALL TO COMPLETE OR NOT COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT). ITS IN THE TRUNK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, SOMTIMES YOU WILL HAVE TO PULL BACK THE GRAY TRUNK "FUZZY" TRIM MOLDING TO GET TO THE WHIOLE THING, NO JUST THE RED BUTTON. YOU NEED TO GET ACCESS THE WHOLE SWITCH ASSMBLY TO CHECK IT OUT GOOD.....HOPE THIS HELPS.....GOOD LUCK!

BTY: WHAT IS WITH THE QUESTION: SRT? WHAT?

I happened to my 98 and it was the crank sensor.
