Transmission cooler line connector fitting leaking

Post by taurus1 » Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:33 pm

I have a 2012 Taurus SEL with 50K miles and noticed some small amount of leakage from the transmission cooler line connector fitting. I am not sure whether it leaks only when the motor is running or at any time. The transmission fluid level does not seem to have decreased. I assume that it may be a seal in the fitting that has deteriorated. I would like to eliminate the problem to avoid any future fluid loss on long trips.

How are the fittings replaced?
Also does doing the repair require any removal of coolant/disconnection of ant radiator hoses?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would try tightening it up. Can't hurt. I had a little drip on my brothers equinox when I replaced the radiator for him. Just needed tightening. Trans cooler is inside radiator submerged in coolant. Just a rubber seal and brass fitting if I remember correctly. Trans line connects to brass fitting
