Wiper Blades

Post by 2011TAURUSSEL » Sat May 17, 2014 1:35 pm

This was a fairly quick afternoon project for removing and replacing the OEM wiper blades. I replaced them with Dura Last Aero Blades from AutoZone. DLA-26 Driver DLA-20 Passenger. I used the passenger side as the photos for this thread but drivers side is same procedure. With this knowledge and what adapters are required the blade change should only be a few minutes per side. There is no cross reference on the package to say Ford Taurus use these adapters, Buick Lacrosse use these adapters etc.....It took myself and two AutoZone managers a few minutes and I initially thought I would have to punch out the rivets of the OEM clip. Perfect timing as you can see the rain started during my install.

NOTE 1: You want to use the procedures for "FOR USE WITH PINCH TAB ARM TYPES" NOTE step 1 and 2 ABOVE the pinch arm photos. That is for removing the preinstalled adapter and replacing with the adapter to the blade

NOTE 2: At bottom of the instruction sheet there is a photo of how to orient the blades. The blade has a slight curve to it you want the lower part on the bottom and high spot on top. This provides a aerodynamic effect of pressing against the windshield and the air forcing up and over to keep blade against the glass.

This is the link from Photo Bucket They should be pretty much in order. Also note the tab from the OEM adapter will slightly extend from the housing maybe about 1/4 inch...not much you can do about that.

I'm lazy Lol. If you go to your dealers website and look under service specials they usually have a coupon for $19.95 for the full set. I usually get them replaced at my once a year state inspection and they have never charged me labor :)

2011 Taurus SEL - I thought you were crazy when you were talking about "proper orientation" of wiper blades! But when I put new wiper blades on a couple months ago, there was a void in the down-swipe on the driver's side which I've never experienced before. I took your advice and reversed the blade and DA DUM it cured the problem!!! Thanks. :D
