Has anyone ordered a Five Hundred yet?

Post by Webmaster » Tue Jul 27, 2004 7:15 pm

If you've ordered one, please post all the details here. I'd be interested to see what trim levels, transmissions, colors, etc. people are interested in.

Unfortunately I won't be buying one right away (I bought two vehicles in the last year and have enough now) but we'll see how bad I want one after I test drive the 500.

I've tried, but the Ford dealer didn't know the car existed. :?:

Hope to soon.

I asked, they said they can order one for me,
I wouldn't have to put a down payment but they said that 2 of there orders got changed by ford, so they said to wait alittle more.
I want an SEL AWD silver frost.

Well we'll see what happens, Ford Credit is being a pain with my 2001 Taurus, lease ended in June and they will only extend the lease at 2 month intervals and only if there is an order with FoMoCo.

Cool thing is I will be test driving one at the Belle Isle grand prix course next Thursday and I will let you all know all about it. :D

FWD?
Anemic powerplant??
Dishwater styling???
No way!
I'm just here to see what people really think of this car.
(Hey if the boy gets re-elected, the same logic says that this car should sell  ).
Hopefully, Ford (God) is listening..., William!

Anemic powerplant? Have you driven one? If not, your opinion really does NOT count.

I also sense you are not in the target market. Go get yourself a 300 and leave us silly Ford Five Hundred intenders to our own devices. We are quite capable of entertaining ourselves. I promise.

And lastly, this is not the political board. Unless you were talking about william Ford, whose postion at FOMOCO is more than secure.

:o i ordered a SEL about 4 months ago. not noing anything about price or expected delivery.

I ordered most of the extras except leather, (which I feel can be put in later with better leather than the factory offers). I only got front-wheel drive because, even though I live in the northeast, I have never had any problems getting around in the snow with my front-wheel drive taureses.

I saw a limited in black on 9/29/02 at a dealer that I did not order mine from and I was real pleased in how it looked and how it feels to sit in it.
trunk is enormous and back seat has a ton of room.

the only problem I have is how ford has handled the delivery (i haven't received mine yet) and i was told by my dealer that it shipped august 23.

Ford STILL has not accepted my order placed the last week in August. But, my dealer has found a comparable Five Hundred at a dealer about 150 miles away. I am probably going to buy it there on Wednesday. Stay tuned!

It's gold instead of white. The interior is pebble instead of shale. We could find no white SELs equipped with AWD, the safety package and no moon roof or leather. I also got the reverse sensing system.

No offense, but AWD, leather and moonroof are kind of sporty options. And I don't think most people would agree that white is a sporty color. Ford probably tries to combine colors and options with the popular demand. That's not to say you couldn't order one from the factory.

Also, how you guys can order a 500 without first test driving one amazes me. I'm pretty much sold on it if everything I've read turns out to be true but I won't order or buy one until I thoroughly test drive it.

Assuming I like it, I want the Limited in Blue Ext/ Pebble Int with the safety package and homelink options. FWD version. Not sure about the tranny.

a. I've now test driven no less than six Five Hundreds--the first over two months ago.

b. I wanted white WITHOUT leather and WITHOUT a sunroof. Sigh.

c. I DID order one from the factory. I had been waiting since late August and the order had not even been accepted. It appears there are VERY few white Five Hundreds out there, and of those, almost all have either a moonroof or leather...

I stand corrected. I missed the word "no" in your post. 8)

No problem!

The FWD limited of which you spoke comes ONLY with the six speed, no CVT. CVT is on the base FWD.

So is FORD trying to tell me that the 6 spd is better? I mean if the FWD base model only comes with the CVT and the FWD Limited only comes with the 6 spd, does that mean the 6 spd is superior?

You are correct.
The CVT only comes in the SE FWD or with the AWD PKG with SE/ SEL/ Limited. I know
that looks depressing but with the demand of the CVT. I guess
thats the only way to keep the demad inline? :(

I had the same question. I think Fred-Fredd nailed the answer. Supply of CVT's is short. It mates well with the AWD. The FWD has it ONLY on the base.

So am I correct in saying that the 6 speed is going to be fazed out over the next few years?
