2000 Taurus heater

Post by amcw4585 » Sat Nov 13, 2010 1:01 pm

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. As of two days ago, I had air conditioning on. That night, I had to switch to heat (welcome to Ohio.) The car never warmed up that night nor has the heat worked since. The temperature gauge works normal (goes half way between hot and cold) and the motor still works. It only blows out cold air now, though. My boss thinks I need a new thermostat, my dad thinks it could be the heater control valve or heater core. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Quick check: run the car up to operating temp, check the heater hoses is one hot and one warm then the core is ok , does the heater box inside feel warm then ok, we know the core is most likely ok.
