2000 Taurus died going down the road

Post by Tward25 » Wed Jul 17, 2019 7:28 pm

My car died going down the road, it shuttered and acted like it was out of gas, I had a little over half a tank, also blew all my coolant out via a hole in the tank... tried to get it started wouldn’t start, got it home checked codes it was showing a fuel pump code so I replaced that along with the filter still wouldn’t start, checked sparked it was a dull orange so I replaced plugs, wires and coil pack still nothing I’ve now put a new crankshaft and camshaft position sensor on and still won’t start... any other ideas guys???

There are no fuel pump diagnostic codes. Can you post the exact codes?

I would recommend stop replacing parts and diagnose before buying anything else. For example, if it has spark that's good enough, it doesn't warrant plugs, wires and coil packs if you have spark.

The coolant being blown out is concerning. Makes me think blown head gasket. Did the car overheat by chance? Need the codes next.

It was the pump relay code... no it didn’t overheat and I don’t know the code... it cleared and went away and now I can’t get it and it’s not showing any other codes... I got it from my stepdad and he didn’t know the last time it had a tune up he had it a year then I’ve had it for 9 months so it was probably due for plugs, wires and a coil
