Ford's Fiesta Put on Hold, Again

Aug 27, 2010

The 2011 Ford Fiesta launch has been off to a rocky start. After an initial delay due to a storm damaging railroad tracks in Mexico -- where the Fiesta is produced, the Fiesta has been halted again due to an undisclosed quality issue.

According to Reuters, “[A] spokesman said Ford is checking several thousand Fiestas built over the past month before they will be released to dealers for sale to customers.” Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reports that Ford “has found ‘about a dozen’ [Fiestas] that have the problem.”

Of course, this leaves to-be owners wondering what the problem is. According to WSJ, “The company declined to specify which part caused the delays, but people familiar with the situation said it was a seat-adjustment lever.”

Although some Fiestas have hit dealer lots, “Ford said it does not believe that any of the vehicles with potential defects had been sold to consumers,” writes KickingTires.
