"AWD Malfuntion" text with traction control light on.

Post by Timmytaurus » Sun May 24, 2015 4:52 am

2005 Five Hundred AWD. Surfing the Ford web sites but really can't find the answer to this problem. Somebody had to have had this problem and a fix?

Some sites say it's the rear diff pressure switch or the oil pressure/ temp sensor? Are they the same thing or different parts? Could it just be low oil in the rear end? What type of oil?

This is supposable a Volvo drive train. Would I have better luck with Volvo sites or dealerships? The text "AWD Malfunction" and traction light have been coming on and off. One day on, next off.

Timmytaurus--you may want to consider using an app like FORScan and an ELM 327 OBD-II reader from Amazon to query the individual modules for faults directly.

turned out to be oil pump on differential and cost me $1000 to get fixed. The parts the size of a tenis ball and $1000 to replace. Knowone would touch it except the dealer. Never, ever buy AWD.

Good info, thanks!
How many miles are on the car? At what interval do you change the fluids?
