Apparently I am not the only one who thinks this is a problem. Motor Trend's latest review of the Fusion states the same problem regarding the lack of tranny gear selection on the 6 spd auto.

No offense taken.

Thanks for the comments.

I personally would not want to shift into "L" at anything over 40-45 mph based on what I told you before. I guess the computer wouldn't let the engine over rev, but I don't think performing the shift would be good.

Thanks for the compliments. Let me know if you guys want some more pics posted. I highly recommend the dark tint weathertech units, as they have no tape to come loose, offer some side shading for your eyes, and fit quite well. On my car, I decided to install the ventvisors on top of the first window...

The six speed auto. Smooth and offers great gas mileage.

The cop told me that he pulled me over specifically for the tint. However, I was going the opposite direction on a divided 4 lane highway next to a semi around 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. I saw him pull a u-turn and I prompt set my cruise control to 55 mph. He rode behind and then beside me for quite a...

The "L" will shift out of 1st from a standstill. As I said before, it will shift from 1st -> 2nd -> 3rd at around 4500rpm or so. I could not get the car to shift to fourth gear. Also, when I am driving along in 6th gear around 50 mph and I drop the car into L, the car does not appear to go into 5th ...

Using the L selection is not the same as using an "OD off" button. The L selection makes the engine rev to over 4k rpm (in my experience), and doe not appear (I let the car rev to over 4k) to shift out of third gear if using the L selection from a standstill. I know I am not driving a sports car, bu...

A few years back I got a ticket for illegal tint in my 2000 Mustang GT. The ticket total was like $75 (with court costs). I have 20% all around (except the front window). The inconsistencies in VA tint laws are baffling to me. I mean, you can go into a showroom, but an SUV with 5% tint on the rear 5...

Call me an oddball, but I would simply like to option of not riding the brakes. I mean, we do have an electronic transmission...why would it be so difficult (or expensive) to add an "OD off" button or something?

Lets be honest here, the "L" selection does not work that well.

For you guys that are curious about the existence of an amp harness in the SE model: I just pulled the left rear carpet from the trunk of my SE and did not see any amp harness. There are only 2 wires back there, one for the trunk light, and one for the license plate lights. I was hoping that the har...

Shifter selection

Why didn't Ford decide to put a "D-5-4-3-2-1" selection instead of just a "D-L" selection on the shifter? While I definitely did not buy the Five Hundred to "shift gears" on a 6 speed auto (I have a supercharged mustang 5-speed for that), I do find that I "ride my brakes" heavily in traffic where I ...

Yeah. I reset the oil change indicator. You have to toggle until you come to the oil change selection, then hold down on the button for like 10 - 15 seconds. The percent should flash a few times before you get to a reset value of 100%. It always amazes me that engineers stuff an engine in a car and ...

Oil Change

I just changed my oil for the first time yesterday. I must say that I was impressed with the placement of the oil filter. As a previous owner of an Escort (had to dump the filter and let the oil run down your arm), 4 cyl Contour (best to access the oil filter from behind the front right time and dum...

Yeah. I would guess that the harness is there, but the amp and rear deck speakers are not.

I too would like to know if the same harness is used. I would also like to know if my SE already has an amp jack as well.

I looked under the rear deck and did not see any "dangling plugs," but I don't know for sure.

I purchased a full set of the dark smoke Weathertech units. I recommend the units that are held in place with tension rather than tape. The tape tends to degrade over time and the items will come leak or come loose.

They Weathertechs look great. If I remember, I'll post some pics.
