Re: 05 ford five hundred throttle body replacement question

Make sure you buy the correct TB...some are "heated" and some are not...you can use a non-heated TB on a car that originally had a heated TB, but you have to install a small piece of bypass hose. I replaced my heated TB with a reman heated TB.

Re: 05 ford five hundred throttle body replacement question

So to answer your question...yes...the car should stop going into limp mode if the TB was indeed the problem. I replaced both the TB and accel pedal assembly at the same time and my car has not gone into limp mode since. Consider yourself lucky to have been able to see and catch the codes. I was onl...

Re: 2001 Ford Taurus service engine light

I was thinking the same thing (cat). Has to be running very hot to do that. A bad oxy sensor probably killed the cat, so replacing the cat will probably only be a temp fix. Replace the oxy sensors as well.

Re: 02 Taurus - putting in a trans drain plug?

I changed the fluid in my mom's 2003 a couple years back after it started slipping a little on the 1-2 shift...car had less than 100k miles at the time (but close to 100k)...I was amazed how much sludge/metal goo was attached to the magnet inside. That being said, a fluid and filter change brought t...

Re: Serpentine Belt Replacement

Sounds like your tensioner is toast and probably needs replaced. Most tensioners have indicator marks on them to indicate when the tensioner is bad.

Re: What is causing this noise? 2005 Taurus

Camshaft synchronizer or sensor on top perhaps? My mom's chirped like a bird when it went bad...twice... Put your hand on the right side of the engine under the plastic intake in the v of the motor...do you feel anything here? The sensor and synchronizer are directly under a plastic right angle wire...

Not sure about his car, but some have an access panel so that the torque converter can be drained as well.

Re: Flush and/or filter change?

Not sure about your car, but my car (2005 Ford Five Hundred with Aisin 6-speed transmission) only has an internal filter than cannot be changed without major disassembly. It doesn't have a traditional style pan with replaceable filter and magnet like my Mom's 2003 Ford Taurus 4 speed auto. That bein...

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings..

I think you would have had problems by now if you over torqued it. Hopefully you are good to go.

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings..

I have no idea...I reused the axle nut (I think you are supposed to use a new nut), which had a smashed edge on it...in summary, you probably wouldn't be able to obtain the correct torque specs anyways...lol

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings..

I have done them before. I used either a slide hammer or a wheel bearing puller (much better). I would not want to attempt without one of these tools.

Re: who has highest mileage?

I haven't had any brake issues (I replace pads every 50k or so myself)...I always clean/lube the sliders. My car has the 3.0 Duratec with external water pump (connected to cam). No problems at all with the pump now. At one point, it started to whistle when cold, but hasn't made a peep in several yea...

Things I have fixed/replaced...front right halfshaft, on my third alternator, windshield, AC compressor/recharge ($1600), melted front right headlight pigtail, struts replaced once, shifter interlock, on my third serp belt, on my third set of spark plugs, recently replaced coil packs ($31 from ebay)...

Re: who has highest mileage?

To be honest...not much...I have used Mobil 1 motor oil since day one, so I would highly recommend that. I have used the trans "drain/refill" approach twice...make sure the correct fluid is used for your trans (mine is an Aisin 6 speed). That's about it. If you would like a list of everything I have...
