Re: Power Steering Fluid Clumps??

No, you won't find anything to dissolve clumps, that is highly abnormal. Clean out the reservoir by removing it and flushing it off the vehicle.

Re: Power Steering Fluid Clumps??

Try to suck out what you can from the reservoir. It has a filter so in theory any clumps in the system should all be in the reservoir. Remove it from the car if you have to.

Use the correct fluid, any Ford dealer will have it in stock (or use the Amazon link). Don't use any other chemicals.

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Welcome! That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard of regarding the power steering fluid. What brand of fluid did you use? How much fluid did you go through when "flushing"? Should be about 2 quarts, I usually go 3. Then you need a little more to refill. If you didn't use Ford/Motorcraft Mercon V, ...

Re: 2011 Taurus 3.5 water pump failure

Antifreeze in the oil destroys bearings internal to the engine. It's most likely too late. Do you know how long the oil was ran like that?

Welcome to the site. This really is a dumb design. Did you try scanning for diagnostic codes and monitoring sensor readings to help narrow the issue down?

Re: Sent a letter to Ford consumer relations about water pump

Does anyone know if they make a kit for everything you need to do this repair yourself? water pump, timing chain, tensioners, gaskets and anything else.Or a parts list There is no kit that I'm aware of. If you do find a parts list, be sure to verify the parts with a dealer before buying anything be...

Re: Sent a letter to Ford consumer relations about water pump

Wait, your 2015 Taurus had TWO engines in which the water pump went out? I can't even comprehend that as a possibility. User error?... Do you understand why the water pumps fail? It's a Ford design error, the users (customers) are victims. I would not own one of these cars outside of the warranty p...

Re: Sent a letter to Ford consumer relations about water pump

...Unfortunately, the Charger spent as much time in my driveway as it did back at the dealer for warranty repairs.......a lot of them... That's because it's a Dodge  I bought a new Jeep once, in 07. Never again will I buy FCA unless by some miracle they actually make reliable vehicles. Yep the...

Re: Sent a letter to Ford consumer relations about water pump

My advice is to buy a vehicle without the self-destructing engine / water pump configuration. I did, and it's not a Ford ;) Oops, did I say that out loud? Hey I still have my F-150. It's old enough it doesn't have the horrible 3 valve spark plugs breaking off in the thread and failing VCT solenoid p...

Oil in the coolant is less common and much less severe than coolant in the oil.

Re: Water pump quotes?

Well that's good if there is no coolant in the oil, but perhaps the previous owner changed it just recently so it hasn't had time to mix yet?

How far gone is it? It really depends, sometimes you just need to replace the engine. Other times you can get away with changing parts.

Re: Possible water pump fail? 2011 Taurus 3.5L

Welcome! The best course of action if it's that bad is to replace the engine. If there is coolant in the oil, it's too late, it's bad. Coolant essentially causes the internal engine bearings to get destroyed because the coolant strips the oil away from those critical surfaces. You could try replacin...

Wow, your mechanic friend told you to not repair a misfire? That's terrible advice. That is such stupid advice when you live somewhere that does emissions testing, let alone California! I don't know about the annal mileage part, but see https://www.obd-codes.com/p0301 for help on that code, and stop...

Re: 2000 Taurus transmission overdrive issue

I had a 1992 Mercury Sable with a slipping transmission. Being young I thought a full fluid flush would help. Nope, that was a waste of money.

First thing's first. What's the level and color (condition) of the fluid? If the fluid level is low it can cause various problems.
