Re: 05 500 rear door seal coming loose
I have had the same concern as well as a friend. Mine happened when someone tried to slide in and caught the seal. The seal has a metal band that helps form the shape. If you can straighten that it should stay back on the body panel. Also, try to push it around the opening to help it seat. If the se...

Re: Purpose of Keyless Entry
There may be no official designed purpose, but there definitely is convenience. Getting into the car without having to look for the keys saves time when you forgot something. There is also assurance that you can get in if you lock your keys in. If your battery goes dead then it's back to square one.

Re: '05 Montego Rattling In Front End
The other day I replaced the right front sway bar link. Same concerns but was bewildered why the link would not move manually. Usually a loose link would wiggle when grabbing to inspect for wear. The one joint was somewhat loose in the socket but it did not seem enough to make a noise. I replaced it...

Re: Engine mount shot
Thanks for all the information pertaining to the engine torque mount. I was replacing my front sway bar link and found the mount bad after a quick inspection of the engine compartment. 61,000 miles on my 2005 Mercury Montego Premier AWD CVT. I used a 1032843 from Napa. It fits the 1998 Volvo V70 T5 ...

Re: Rim cleaning
Hello. I have a Montego with the Premier 18" wheels. Major rear brake dust problem since new. Just recently replaced rears (2nd time) with ceramic pads and new rotors. I purchased a power scrubber at walmart (very similar to a powered toothbrush) with a decent scrubber head on it. This works great c...

Re: '05 Montego Rattling In Front End
Just replaced the left front stabilizer link last week and the rattle has gone away. The lower socket on the link was very loose. Altough, when it was installed you could grab it and it felt solid. New part is Moog with grease fittings and lifetime warranty.

Re: Front end rattle (2005 500 90,000 miles)
Hi Mark,
I am having a rattle concern in the front end as well. Here is my post from awhile ago. The other gentlemen thought it might be the stabilizer links as well but I question what else it could be.

Re: 2006 Taurus & iPod Integration?
I am not familiar with that brand but last year I installed the Peripheral iSimple iPod kit for my 2005 Montego. It has the AUX button and it has been working fine since. There is an option to control everything on the iPod through the stereo controls and through the iPod itself. I like to use it th...

Re: Rear map lights are very bright!!
:D I was actually riding in the back seat of our Montego yesterday night (usually driving) and was using the map lights. Those things are like daylight and light up the whole cabin! I would look up an LED equivalent if you aren't interested in making a light block like the previous post. LEDs are mo...

Re: '05 Montego Rattling In Front End
Thanks for the update! I will have to double check the stabilizer links. I checked them by grabbing them with the suspension loaded and unloaded and there was no real play in them. There may be just enough that it makes the noise though. Let me know if the sound comes back!

Re: Tires
The OEM P6's were good new but I replaced them at 36,000 miles due to how loud they were while driving. There was some life left but couldn't stand the noise. Now I have Hankook Optimo H727 with 10,000 miles and nothing bad to report. Very quite and comfy. We'll see how they handle in the winter soon.

'05 Montego Rattling In Front End
Hello. I have an '05 Montego AWD w/CVT, 47,000 miles, and have been noticing a rattling noise in the front end. It is most noticable at lower speeds (35 and below) due to road noise, going over road imperfections. Just curious if anyone has had something similar on Ford or Mercury? I have been under...
