Re: Noise in gear, at idle

I noticed on the Volvo Bushing I installed on the wife's 500, that it would not stay centered in the original mount. If it moved to one side the 'arm' mounted to the firewall/strutbar wiuld contat the original mount & vibrate. I re-centered the Volvo bushing and installed 2 long pop-riviets ~90 degr...

Re: Engine mount shot

I did this on my wife's 500. I bought the bushing from RockAuto ÜRO PARTS 9434263 Torque Strut Bushing $ 3.86 Shipping Ground (FedEx or UPS) $ 7.61 The bushing does not appear to rotate, but it does get some sideways movement, which causes vibration when it moves too far to one side. I am planning o...

Re: 2005 Montego....Dash Clock Stopped Working

Thank you for the tips........The price sounds good, but I'd prefer the black face.

If I get chance, I'd like to look at my clock & see if it is possible to switch the face on the clock. If so, I might take you up on the offer!

Thanks!

2005 Montego....Dash Clock Stopped Working

Good Afternoon All,

The Dash Clock in my 2005 Montego Stopped Working.

Anybody experience this? Does the clock come out easy? Are the guts accessible?

Thanks!

Re: 2005 Ford Five Hundred PS Rear Caliper Issue

The rotors were fine (and new...March 2009). I got the 'hardware kit' which consists of new pad clips, slider boots, the rubber? sleeve that goes on the bottom pin, and grease. I removed and cleaned (brakekleen & emery cloth) the pins, re-greased them, replaced the boots & sleeve, installed & lubed ...

2005 Ford Five Hundred PS Rear Caliper Issue

Good Morning, I have a 2005 Ford Five Hundred with a Passenger Side Rear Caliper Issue. The inboard pad is worn to about 3/32" , the outboard ps and both ds pads are about as thick as new. Has anyone seen any issues with the rear calipers on the 500/Montego? When I installed the last set of pads & r...

Re: Does anybody have the p/n for the upper motor mount?

$300-$400 !!!!! I hope most of that was labor!

FORDPARTSGUY.com has it for $62.39 + shipping.

Looking at it, it looks like a single bolt may be the biggest problem. The rest look like they are easy to access.

Thanks!

Does anybody have the p/n for the upper motor mount?

This is for a 2005 Ford 500 SEL AWD.

Doesn't look like an aftermarket part is available............

The 500/Montego has a timing chain. Remove the OIL cap & you will see it. The belt you saw underneath is the serp. belt.

Re: Ford 500 Rear Brakes??

My only issue with the Raybestos Brake Pads is that they are NOISY, SQUEEKY.

My 5 year old tells me I need to oil the wheels.........

They do last longer.

Re: what SEL upgrades are avail at the dealer?

Todd, In 2006 or 2007 they dropped the SE and removed standard items from the SEL....then they offered an available package for the SEL model, that added back these standard features (fog lights, 6-disc, auto climate, etc).

Re: Check your brakes hoses!

By shutting off the engine, you will lose the power assist on the brakes, as well. If you do this, make sure you DO NOT lock the steering column, or things can get real interesting, quickly.

Re: K&N filters

I had a K&N in both the Freestyle and the Montego - and as an experiment swapped the factory filters back in to see the difference - and the 3.0L motor actually likes the factory filters better - smoother accelleration and identical gas mileage - not sure why... I actually went back to the stock fi...

Re: Check your brakes hoses!

Yes there are seperate braking circuits, but without the fronts working (they do most of the stopping), your stopping distance is going to dramatcally increase. Usually, you find this out at the most inappropriate moment (panic stops, etc.).

Try stopping with the E-brake..............
