Re: 2014 Taurus Battery Hazard

Are you out of comprehensive warranty? The battery is covered for 3 years or whatever mileage (60K?). Did you talk to the dealer today?

Ask your local dealer service department. Would take mere minutes with your VIN.

Re: 2013 Taurus - Looking for power seat motor part number.

Do not trust Dorman for any critical parts. A door lock actuator or trim piece, sure. A critical engine component, absolutely not. They are cheap Chinese parts for a reason. Many people have learned that lesson the hard way... ;)

Re: Mysterious plug 1999 Taurus

I'm not 100% sure but I'd say it is for an outside temperature sensor. If you have automatic climate control or another outside temp display from the factory, that plug would be used.

Re: HOW TO PREVENT WATER PUMP FAILURE

Wow $$... but.... keep in mind that if you don't have a receipt for a coolant change/flush at the proper interval, they can potential invalidate the extended warranty. And that $9,300 warranty only takes effect AFTER the factory warranty expires, so it's not a 7 year warranty in reality, it's more l...

Re: HOW TO PREVENT WATER PUMP FAILURE

Does anyone know if Ford has addressed the issue (somehow) with recent 3.5L vehicles? Of course I'm specifically concerned with my 2016 model year but just wondering if Ford even thinks there is a significant issue. Your engine still has a similar design, could be susceptible over time. An extended...

Re: Future water pump failure

p.s. One theory is that you should be vigilant with your coolant changes. Many people don't change their coolant as required so if the coolant loses some of it's benefits over time and gets old it may accelerate a water pump failure. Just another thing to consider.

Re: Future water pump failure

Read the warranty fine print very carefully, it's written by lawyers. Most likely it will only cover very select components. In other words the water pump failing and grenading your engine may not be covered, but select components may be covered. You may be better off just proactively replacing the ...

Re: gas smell, 2011 Escape

It's hard to say where the smell is coming from. Perhaps you have a leaking or damaged line or seal. Given the nature of the situation, I'd get it to a qualified mechanic for a look immediately. Towing it would be a good idea too.
