Re: Door jamb key pad

This is for F-150, not Taurus. I don't think so, that function is in the SYNC3 APIM module, which My 2013 does not have. Door Keypad Menu & Ambient Lighting 17-18 APIM 7D0-01-02 XXX*-XXXX-XXZZ 8 = Keypad Disabled & Lighting Disabled, 9 = Keypad Enabled & Lighting disabled,  A = Keypad Disabled & Lig...

I believe this is not for the Taurus. What is your source?

I have also found this...

AdvanceTrac Control & AutoLamp Delay-13-18 IPC 720-01-03 XXXX-XX*X-ZZ 0 = Disabled, 8= AdvanceTrac, 1 = AutoLamp, 9 = AdvanceTrac w/ AutoLamp

Is that a Dorman manifold? A Ford part is best if you plan on keeping the car a long time.

Re: Anyone ever flush their PTU???

The safest flush is to change the fluid and then change it again shortly thereafter. Personally I wouldn’t risk things by using additives like those you mentioned.

I thought all PI’s had a drain plug??

Re: How much lifetime mileage can we expect?

Hmmm.... depends if the water pump fails. When it does if it's not caught soon enough it destroys the engine from the inside. I wouldn't consider either of them to be highly durable, the turbos can fail on the EcoBoost engines, it's a bit rare too but the problem can re-occur. Read over at the Flex ...

Stay away from Dorman if you plan on keeping the car! Most of what they make is junk.

Just find the part # and search eBay, Amazon, RockAuto, etc and compare pricing.

Re: Misfire or O2 sensor? 2011 Crown Vic

I've gotten advice that I'm probably looking at a leaky intake manifold or gasket. Is there a test I can perform that confirms it's my intake manifold that's leaking before I start taking parts off? Yes, a smoke test. Search something to the effect of "evap leak smoke test" to see what they're abou...

Re: Which catalytic converter to replace for P0430 Code

Be sure to replace it with ideally a Ford OEM converter for best results. Second choice is a 50-state legal aftermarket one. If you go for the cheapest one it won’t last as long and you might be replacing it again in a year.

Re: 2011 Taurus SEL extremely low coolant

Welcome! If there is noticeable coolant in your oil already, the damage is done. Coolant destroys bearings internal to the engine which is permanent damage. It can only be fixed by an engine rebuild (or replacement which is more likely). I would either sell it as-is and buy a Toyota or fix it and re...

So did it leak internally too, destroying the engine from the inside? Worth asking, it's such a horrible thing that happens to unsuspecting owners.

Re: White eroded plugs, stuck plug, and part question

You don't want to use penetrating fluid, that's the wrong thing. You're not trying to remove a rusted bolt, you're trying to dissolve carbon deposits (most likely). If the carb cleaner doesn't work it wouldn't hurt to try. Just don't put too much liquid down there as it will seep past and go into th...

I'm no expert on reading spark plugs but... check out this link: https://www.onallcylinders.com/2012/12/20/reading-101-how-to-read-your-spark-plugs/ Given that crazy big gap I'm not surprised. The gaps were way too big on my 03 F150 last time I changed plugs. I would recommend you just run top quali...

Look in your owners manual/scheduled maintenance guide. Dealers suggest all kinds of things because their primary job is to extract as much money from you as possible when you visit.

Generally speaking if the car is running fine, no. You could use an advanced scan tool and graph the O2 sensor readings to ensure they are working OK. As long as you are doing regular maintenance on your car they should be fine.
