Re: Northeast US Interceptor Car Meet?

Oswego, IL- First week in August(ish), Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show. The website for the 2018 show isn't up yet, but you can google it and c...

Re: Idle hours - is this high? 2013 PI sedan
6500 is a lot, but there are cars with more. If your car has any patrol history, it's going to have idle hours. My car had 46k miles and 321 idle hours out of a total 1442 hours. If you do the math, that's 1121 moving hours over 46k miles, or an average speed of 41mph (That translates to mostly high...

Fronts should fit.

Re: OEM Taurus Console Questions - for PI install
My plate is silver and it scratches like a mofo. Mine is off at the powder coater's right now getting color matched and shot in the same color as the adjacent cup holders and accessory plate, but in a bit more durable coating. FWIW, mine is a '13 and it's silver on the top, but the base part is blac...

Re: 2013 PI option questions
Is there an automatic headlight option on the Interceptor? If there is, how does the 3-position switch work with that? Can you still turn the lights off completely? Will the headlight position be overridden by the auto? Oh, and if it has this can someone post the ForScan code to enable it? Can you ...

Re: 2013 PI option questions
I own a 2015 interceptor that came with auto head lights but has a 4 position head light switch. The day time headlights come on with the start of the car but if your turn the parking light on only the head lights and day time head lights go off. If you don't mind, I may ask a favor... I have a 2013...

Re: center console for the interceptors
Is part # DG1Z-54045A76-FA (the piece with the 2 12v outlets) in Steele's post/pictures only available on PI units with the full console? Ive got a gap in my civilian console (I have the same console as Steele) and that would fit perfectly .. but not at $150 through Ford! Good luck finding one anyw...

Re: Cop car fascination?
I too am a transplant from CVN. For me, it's not a fascination. Ford has put a lot of time and effort in making comprehensive police packages. I prefer well built cars that are easy to obtain parts for. ^^^ This. 200a alternator, double capacity cooling package, oil cooler, trans cooler, diff coole...

Re: New 2016 Police Interceptor Sedan owner
If the lights don't come on when you open the door, then "dark mode" is enabled on the car. You need to use Forscan to disable it or the dealer can do it to. Then when you open the door, interior lights come on and parking lights will turn on. Another option, pin 13 in the "14-way front power and v...

Re: Rear seat conversion - PI sedan
Just started my rear seat swap and front console install on 2014 taurus interceptor, did you replace the rubber flooring with carpet? Cool. Things to note: - The PIS rear seat will require a rear seat from a PIS, removal of the 75mph cross bracing to install a civilian seat, or hogging out the civv...

Re: Anyone help identify these rear seats?
You also have to remove the PIS rear-impact cross beam or the civilian seats will not fit over it. This will drop your rear impact rating to civilian level (as opposed to 75mph of the police version). I've been researching this for a while, so if you have any Q's, PM me and I'll do my best to help....

Re: Anyone help identify these rear seats?
Regular civilian Taurus cloth seats. You can swap them in, everything bolts in, but you have to harvest all the hardware from the donor car, and the side bolster panels, because they are 60/40 split folding, which PIS are not, but other than that, you're good to go. You also have to remove the PIS r...

Re: 2013 Taurus slowly losing coolant
If you don't see coolant on the driveway, it's not likely good, my friend. It can be many things, but slow and steady loss like you describe is usually an indication of a weeping water pump. Do a search for ford 3.5L water pump failure and you'll get the picture. A weeping water pump is not generall...

Re: Expected MPG? 2014 PI Sedan
2013 AWD 3.5L flex-fuel, 65k miles, owned 6 months, 20k miles. I drive 800-900 miles a week, almost exclusively highway at 75-80 mph and I'm not scared to stand on it when I feel like bending it on an on-ramp or something like that. I'm a polar bear and my A/C is pretty much on all the time. I also ...

Re: New owner of 2013 police interceptor, questions...
This is an interesting thread in general and brings up some questions... - It seems like they are using a double-walled/welded manifold in the transverse applications; probably because of heat. - If you look at the pictures above, it seems like the manifold headers are separating from the flange, in...

Re: Rear seat conversion
Yes and you lose the comfort, to me its worth losing the safety to gain back seat passengers who aren't bitching at you while you drive. Yeah, and let's keep it in perspective. A typical cop car spends more time parked, exposed on a high speed (45mph+) roadside in a week than our civilian use in a ...
