DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 10, 2004-Lincoln Mercury today announced prices for the 2005 Mercury Mariner and 2005 Mercury Montego, two all-new products that demonstrate how the brand is entering new segments while offering premium features and distinctive styling in packages that emphasize value.
"The Mariner and Montego are game-changers for Mercury," said Darryl Hazel, Lincoln Mercury president. "For the first time in decades, Mercury is entering two new areas of the market at the same time. These vehicles play an important role in Lincoln Mercury's broad-based product renaissance that will give consumers and dealers 11 new products in six new segments over four years."
In addition to competitive pricing, the Montego and Mariner combine a wide array of standard equipment with streamlined option packages that enhance the vehicles' overall value. "Mercury's strongpoint is offering a good range of premium features at a reasonable price," said Hazel. "These vehicles carry on that tradition, and we expect customers will be pleased with how much they get for their money," Hazel added.
The 2005 Montego features a starting manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) of $24,995, including destination and delivery fees, for front-wheel drive versions. All Montegos include standard equipment of HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, dual automatic temperature control and either 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.
From its sophisticated, roomy interior to its modern, new powertrains, the five-passenger Montego gives Mercury a well-appointed entry in the premium, mid-size sedan segment. The signature waterfall grille, contrasting metallic surfaces and unique tailoring continue the distinctive automotive design vision Edsel Ford set for the brand 65 years ago.
The Montego's interior dimensions put it among the leaders in virtually every category, including best-in-class headroom and knee room in the second row. Under the hood, the Duratec 30 V-6 has been refined for a smoother, quieter operation. The car comes available with all-wheel drive, which has a new continuously variable transmission, or front-wheel drive versions that feature a premium six-speed automatic transmission.
