Looks good! How much do you want to bet that it will feature the Twin Turbo Duratec?

Autoblog covered it too:

I think it's safe to say it will have a turbo V6 (maybe twin). Ford keeps boasting about these "new" fuel efficient, more powerful engines...

p.s. I think the styling is the best of any Taurus. No offense ;-)

Gee it looks an awful lot like the Mondeo in Europe:

"Expect to see a concept version at least of the Taurus at the 2009 Detroit show, with a best guess of late 2009 for the production car to hit dealer showrooms."

Actually, that's not so far in the future.

PaulRH, that's about right. I've heard the new Lincoln is based off the (new?) Taurus platform (I forget the codename for it at the moment).

Does anyone know if the new Taurus / MKS frame is or will still be a Volvo chassis or is it an all new design?

My next car will be the MKS (Brilliant Silver). Of course I will have to wait a few years so the bugs can be worked out and fixed. Never by the first years production.

My next wife will be Miss World. Of course, I'll have to wait a few years.

The new Taurus shares it's platform with the Lincoln MKS, which are both improved versions of the Volvo derived D3 platform used for Five Hundred. et all, since they were introduced. Internally Ford refers to the MKS as the D385 platform.

I have a first year D3, with 36000 trouble free miles on it.

So does that definitely mean that the new MKS and '10 Tara$$ will have command seating, my #1 favorite feature?

I haven't heard yet, and I haven't seen an MKS up close enough to be able to tell.

I like the Command Seating, but....., the passenger seat should be able to go up/down like the drivers seat. My golf partner has to slouch in the seat and still sees thru the dark band on top of the windshield. Some taller women also complained about that. My seat is lowered and I'm only 5'11".

I'll agree with the need for more adjustability with the passenger seat. My wife is pretty short and has arthritic knees, and finds that the passenger seat could certainly use the ability to adjust the height and even the seat bottom angle a bit to make it more comfortable to sit. I will say, however, that it's pretty unusual to have more adjustment to a passenger seat as she'd like - at least at this price point.
