The MPGs that are posted on cars are usually a best case scenario. I also get around 21-22.
If your using the trip computer thing, on your next tank calculate your MPG manually and see if it differs.(fill up, reset your trip odometer, next time you fill up divide your miles on your trip odometer by the ammount of gas you bought)

Good luck with your new 500, hope you enjoy it, and welcome to the forums!

You are not missing something. When the sticker says 29 MPG, it is based on a test in the laboratory. Fuel economy varies because of traffic, driving style, and etc.

I have been able to achieve 29mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 60-62mph with the OEM Conti tires. With my new Yokohama tires the most I see is 27mpg.

So I'm guessing either the new tires are heavier or slightly different in size. Either of which would cause the decrease in apparent mileage.

I'm still quite happy with my Fiver. Around the Twin Cities I average 20-22mpg depending on how heavy my foot gets.

I believe those figures are for comparison only. If you have a light foot @55MPH with a tail wind you may be able to hit that number.

At 55mph I can easily hit 32mpg or better, though last week when I had new front replacement tires installed I had a problem getting over 30mpg at 60mph, but that should change as they wear in.

My overall average is 22.873 MPG, calculated across 35,227 miles.

I regularly get 22 in the city and 27 on the hwy in my 2005 limited w/ awd. On a trip to Colorado, cruise set at 80, I'll get about 26.5

This almost exactly matches my averages in the 07 Montego AWD - same conditions, etc. Interestingly enough, the freestyle gets similar city mileage, but 2-3 mpg less on the highway. Can you say "aero drag"?
