Has anyone here changed plugs on their 08 or 09 Taurus/Sable yet with the Duratec 35? I was wondering if there are any caveats as to pulling off the upper intake manifold? I'm thinking about replacing the plugs on my Taurus (53,300 miles) and putting a little anti-seize on them as well. Can you get away re-using the upper intake gaskets/seals?

BTW, who here has the highest mileage Gen V Taurus/Sable? I'm at 53,300?

I'd be interested as well. It looks like only the middle and driver's side plug on the back are covered. I hope it isn't as bad as the 3.0 plug change.

I don't know about replacing your plugs, but I might have the lowest mileage on a 2009 Taurus. 1850 miles. I bought it as a leftover in October and haven't driven it much in the winter. I have 4x4 truck for that fun!!!

95,000 miles. If it was not for the odometer I would swear it was a 30,000 or newer car.

BTW, I've been reading the concerns on the trans shifts. I think that this is just a quirky shifting trans due to the entirely electronically controlled powertrain. So far things have been fine w/ mine, I drove it for a couple hundred before the reflash and after, I really did not notice a difference. But, this is my non-expert opinion.

The thing is, I have 2..... 1 Taurus, 1 Sable, both 2008s. Basically, the same car (engine and trans are identical). only the Taurus acts up. the Sable is fine. And the Taurus is more than 'quirky'.

I made formal complaint to Ford's customer relations people today via email. We'll see what they say...
