Does anybody know of a tsb or recall for the dash compatment lid bubbling up on the Montego/500 ???? I have a 2005 Montego (33,000 miles) with the problem and was wondering if it was a recall item or what not . I really dont want to have to pay out of pocket for a new one... Thanks in advance for any help given . :?:

It was never a recall, but it was Technical Service Bulletin. Unless you have a madly-extended warranty, Ford will likely not pay for it as the standard warranty for these vehicles has long since expired.

I had that problem but didn't want to pay to replace it. I ended up poking it with a needle and after a bit the bubble was gone, and because it's a rough surface, you can't tell unless you really look for it.

The same happened to my car three times. It was replaced under the warranty every time. The last one has been ok. Maybe a new provider is manufacturing the dash compartment lid.

I believe someone here termed the phrase "Dolly Partonitus Syndrome".

The replacement lid is made of hard plastic instead of being padded vinyl.

Good point Netty...

I still have the original saline model that sports " Dolly Partonitus Syndrome."

Bidding starts at a Grand. I even free ship.

Now's the time to sell. They are better in the cold? The "Dollies" pop out and get bigger?

I'm not quite sure about the temp factor. I bought it in from the garage to a heated room(My evil Den).

More as things develop. Maybe even some photos.
